A basic gone-to-the-top-fell-to-the-bottom-and-came-back-for-glory flick. But there is a high level of originality and inspirational quality to be found here, with a close, realistic approach that captures both the eloquent arrogance and dignity of a musician trapped in the whirl-pool of music business and still be honest to himself.
