Review of Italian for Beginners (2000) by Baris Y — 21 Jun 2008
Documentary style shots without the use of any music might not be everyone's cup of tea and hard to get used to in a feature film; however it adds to the down to earth feel of this danish movie (typical!).
successful natural acting performances and layered ordinary characters make it an engaging movie to watch. the story is about the struggles of desperate people who try to get over bitterness in their life through finding love.
what they all have in common is the loss of a close person and an italian class. I found the movie to be dull & disturbing at times in the 1st half and uplifting & entertaining in the 2nd.
