Review of Italian for Beginners (2000) by Tony L — 21 Jun 2008
Dogme 95? That means nothing to me, but I enjoyed this story of a group of lonely individuals who take up an Italian evening class. The film is described as a romantic comedy but I'd describe it as pain, loss and love (I must have missed the laughs).
The film didn't have a Hollywood slickness, but had a great unpolished air with ordinary-looking actors which helped make their story seem so much more real.
