Review of Italia 90 (2014) by Edgar F — 03 Jul 2017
This is a film that is a true David versus Goliath story really is. There are no championships won, but at the end of the day there is glory and legend. That a country with a small population was able to stand tall and proud on the shoulders of giants.
That for such a small impoverished nation to see their colors represented at such a high level and produce a statement of being a cinderella story against the best in the world. Costa Rica's team overcame heavy odds and low expectations to prove to the world that they were not push-overs.
This film was at the cusp of the 2014 World Cup where once again Costa Rica proved to the world what they can do. The film is made for Costa Ricans, by Costa Ricans. It's hard to prove to the world the importance or significance this historic moment provided to the then 2.5-million people of the country.
This film embodies the hard work, dedication, pride, and doubts that we all had while rooting for the team that we loved and the colors of a country we held dear to our hearts. Where 22 men were able to go with a new coach to a foreign land that made them legends in the eyes of their countrymen. They made believers out of all of us. Watch the film and it will make a believer out of you as well.
