Review of It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958) by Justin H — 05 Oct 2009
Not so much a monster movie as a look at what NASA would be like if it was run by the NRA. I wanted to rate this one higher, simply for the ludicrous scenes where high explosives are routinely used ON A SPACESHIP.
Sadly however, the jaw-dropping incompetence of the astronauts and the unintentional laughter resulting from it isn't enough to offset the sheer plodding drudgery of the rest of the film. Simply put: "It!" is slow; it's one of those films where 10 minutes feels like an hour.
Occasional hilarity aside, "It!" is often more trouble to sit through than it's worth. Not without redeeming value, but there's far better cheese out there.
