Review of It Might Get Loud (2008) by Alan M — 14 Mar 2010
"It Might Get Loud" takes three influential guitar players (Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White) of different generations and putting them in a room together to talk about their craft. It's such a simple idea and yet works so well.
Not only do you learn about their approach and philosophy to the guitar, but it also features a few tidbits about the musicians that you may not have known (Jimmy Page once played Muzak?!). To me, the film was at its best when it featured the three players jamming together and talking about their influences.
The DVD extras contain more of the trio playing together including an interesting scene of Page explaining the riff in "Kashmir", then teaching it to The Edge and White. A solid music documentary.
