Review of It Happened One Night (1958) by Michael R — 20 Aug 2008
Funny screwball opposites attract comedy. Clark Gable was plenty of fun, he and Claudette Colbert have serious onscreen chemistry. The hitchhiking scene is hilarious and classic. The direction looks surprisingly modern (except for those silly wipe transitions).
King Westley looks so much like Peter I have to believe it was a purposeful statement about how not to judge a book by its cover. I love that Ellie's dad is trying to get her NOT to marry a lame, rich playboy.
