As another reviewer stated, this film fails because the evil presence is not clearly defined. There is nothing to be scared of. The titular "It" is simply a notion; a fart in the wind. You are constantly wondering when the scares are going to start coming and when the movie is actually going to start.
..but it never does. In the end, you are left with nothing but some pretty faces and some nice shots of suburban America.
