Review of It Follows (2015) by Cjethomas — 03 Apr 2015
I went into this knowing almost nothing, so I had no expectations. This is a movie that fails by its own internal logic; the movie even explains its failings midway through. It could have literally been fifteen minutes long if any of the characters showed a shred of intelligence.
Throw in sub-par performances by most of the cast (the lead and her lovelorn friend do fine), a gratingly annoying score, and uninspired cinematography and it all adds up to a film that is more unintentionally silly than scary.
I get what the filmmakers were going for, but they didn't achieve it.
