If "The Babadook" didn't prove to you that there were still terrifying original horror films out there, then "It Follows" will silence that disbelief. "It Follows" holds a place right up there with "The Babadook" as one of the eeriest, creepiest, scariest, most well-made and original horror movies of recent memory.

While writer/director David Robert Mitchell clearly takes his cue from Carpenter (he so obviously pays loving and respectable homage to "Halloween" throughout), he manages to create a new riff on the "sex-equals-death" formula and it manages to keep you hooked for the whole running time.

That's helped a lot by a cast of likable people (Maika Monroe is terrific). While the movie packs in several creep-out moments, you're likely to find the delightfully 80's score by Disasterpeace just as frightening.

I can say that "It Follows" is a new horror classic, along with "The Babadook". It's a template for many other films to follow and admire for years to come.
