Review of It Follows (2015) by Pixelpiece X — 09 Jan 2018
Only an "OK" Horror/Suspense film. This film doesn't break new ground in terms of film making or storytelling, in fact it treads ground very similar to the like of "The Ring/Ringu" which has a similar concept, but frankly does it better. The acting was reasonably convincing for the script, but the main character's actions are questionable for a good portion of the time which takes one out of the movie. The music was distracting and did not match the tone for the film; while this is something that was an obvious choice by the creators to make this film different from blockbuster horrors, it didn't help their film. For a movie that only had a running time of just over 1.5hours it also seemed overly long because the same mechanic was reused over and over and over; the film could have used more setup to help the audience care more about the character whom so many supporting characters seem to love.
Worth seeing once- I hope a few of the actors careers are spring-boarded by the high ratings because they're the only reason I stayed with the movie until the end.
