I couldn't decide whether I liked this movie or not. I love movies with deeper meanings that can only be noticed after viewing it a couple times. It Follows seems to have some sort of deeper theme, but in actuality, I don't think there is any hidden theme.

I was disappointed that every hypothesis I tried to come up with was immediately rejected by a following scene. In the end I just believe this movie was a nightmare, like an actual nightmare. It is never clear where the story is heading, or even what time period it is in; sorta like a nightmare.

In a nightmare, if someone is trying to kill you, you can never get away (they follow you) but a lot of the time they might not even be the same person hunting you from the beginning. You become very discombobulated watching It Follows, as if you're in a nightmare.

Trying to find reasoning is like trying to figure out what happened in your nightmare.
