It Comes at Night is an excellent but disturbing psychological thriller with an excellent ensemble cast. It Comes at Night is not a horror film. The title, long hallway shot, and graphic scenes are a bit misleading and it is easy to see why professionals and movie goers assumed they would be viewing a horror film.
The scenes in the trailer do relate to the film's title and if you see the whole movie, you will see what and why It Comes at Night. An idle mind can be a terror playground especially for someone who is constantly frightened and is a witness to terror.
