Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Ziggy R — 08 Jun 2017
I don't know what people are talking about when they didn't like this movie. Personally, I loved it. One of my favorite movies this year. You have to be open minded however. You never find out the "it" but that's the nature of this movie. It leaves you to think. What were to happen if we were ever in this situation?
It resinates with us for a very long time and left me with dread, sorrow, and amazement. It sucked me in. Although, it was slow paced, it built the tension and suspense, and the horror was terrifying and The action was incredibly tense. There are twists in this movie. The acting is impeccable and this movies truly makes us wonder. "Are we ever really alone? Are we ever safe? What happens when there is nothing left?
There are many theories to the ending, which it very depressing, yet amazing. This is not your conventional horror. It chills you to the bone with the cinematography, music choices, acting, and the plot progression. Although the ending may be ambiguous, you can imagine the scenarios. It leaves you with hopelessness which makes this movie all the more special. It shows, not tells. It amazing to investigate the "it" and what happened after the end. I truly loved this movie. Just remember, it is slow paced but keeps your interest and becomes fast paced towards the climax, which ultimately leads to the "resolution" of the movie. A psychological horror.
A true psychological horror.
