Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Anna L — 07 Jul 2018
The movie itself is clearly a metaphor of paranoia, the need of protection and security, but it's mostly an alegory of immigration. The fear of the foreigner, and what it means to the residents of a place.
It's not coincidence that the family in the house are american and the stranger on the other hand, is a latino father trying to get a better life for his family. This set up a conflict in the house, about the paranoia of a disease that comes from the outside, the fear of contagion makes the family protect themselves in their home, with locks and weapons, to lose all confidence on the outside.
When you choose to live alone, you don't trust a stranger easily.
