Review of It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955) by Dave J — 04 Dec 2017
"It" as the title refers to is really a mutated giant octopus perhaps inspired by other nuclear movies such as "Godzilla" and "Them!" both released in 1954. When U-boat commander Cmdr.
Pete Mathews (Kenneth Tobey) and his crew detect something radioactive underwater that is holding them at bay, they would recover it to the surface to discover that it was no more than a small octopus which may have been contaminated by previous nuclear war bombs.
They would then recruit America''s 2 top scientists of Dr. John Carter (Donald Curtis) and Prof. Lesley Joyce (Faith Domergue) to make a full examination. Special effects by stop motion auteur Ray Harryhausen.
