Review of It (2017) by Anzaan A — 23 Nov 2017
Andy Muschietti's masterful adaption of Stephen King's classic novel is not only one of the greatest horror films of the past two decades, but also a powerful tale of youth, friendship, and overcoming fears by embracing such things.
It is difficult to say which is more impressive: Bill Skaarsgard's creepily transformative performance as the shape-shifting evil clown (that is on the same level as Heath Ledger's Joker performance), or each one of the young cast of the Loser's Club.
The genuine bond that the kids have resonates with audiences as much as Pennywise's presence sends chills down their spine. With an amazingly talented cast, eerie cinematography, some terror-inducing music, and a nightmarish atmosphere, 'It' is a horror film that is much more than another jump-scare diversion.
An instant classic as both a horror film, and as a poignant coming-of-age tale.
