Review of It (2017) by Eagleeyeviking — 08 Sep 2017
While some jump scares early on come off as cheap, the quality of "It" floats with time. The film is palm-sweatingly tense throughout, and benefits from impeccable acting all around, particularly Alexander Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
The camerawork is professional, the world-building sublime, several scares are genuinely frightening, and the finale compellingly lays the groundwork for a sequel. This isn't a 'fun but disposable' "Annabelle: Creation"-esque haunted house jump scare romp.
By drawing into Stephen King's rich yet conflicted characters, it is much deeper than that.
