A necessary remake. The old movie scared the creepers out of me as a child but has not aged well. All of the things that were negative in the previous version are now positives in remake. This being the acting , special effects/makeup.
The addition of adult subject matter such as the pedophile daddy is also a big positive compared to the TV version. All in all this is more than just a horror movie. It is a moralistic tale of growing up and having to overcome our childhood fears and idiosyncracies.
