It's a little hard to beat the original IT clown -- Tim Curry. I don't feel the clown leveled up to the authentic true "clown qualities" that Tim Curry brought to screen. I felt the kids had especially unnecessary dirty mouths, the house was overkill, and dutch tilts for horror emphasis went overboard.
I've never been a fan of CG incorporated into a character, but of course...new age digi films just can't stay away from it. The film overall was a big bummer. I give it two stars because it's still a classic.
