Malgré un scénario peu original et dans le fond assez convenu, le film est servi par une réalisation impeccable, une mise en scène soignée et une photographie remarquable. Le tout porté par un casting efficace qui nous plonge dans un atmosphère angoissant de manière habile.
Une production Val Lewton de très bonne facture.
