Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by Teddy F — 16 Apr 2018
Isle of Dogs is a clever animated film perfect for dog lovers; Wes Anderson's distinctive storytelling style elevates the movie above most of its animated peers being released today. The cast is stacked and I'm not even going to bother listing them all, but I will say this: the voice acting is strong (as expected) and every actor/actress brings something to the table.
Each character is unique and fun; of course, the dogs were my favorites. For those who either missed out or were disappointed by this year's earlier stop-motion animated film "Early Man," Isle of Dogs is sure to satisfy.
Watching Atari and the dogs stumble through trash island is intriguing as you never know what is going to be around the corner. There are small twists in the story which will keep you captivated, and just in general, the story is winsome and compelling for all ages; who knew the idea of combining political conspiracy with man's best friend could work so well? Isle of Dogs might not have blown me away, but it is different, well-written, has great characters, and is something anyone can enjoy; I can't see how someone wouldn't enjoy the movie unless they are a cat person.
