Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by Eric K — 18 Apr 2018
Although this meticulously crafted, star-studded story is told with heart and wit, one can't help but feel it loses most of its bite by the time the third act rolls around. And while Bryan Cranston delivers a solid performance in the lead role, poor character development and a weak screenplay ultimately upend what was a very promising and exciting start to the film.
Wes Anderson brings his visual appeal, expert editing and dry wit to a very average story and manages to elevate it enough that I would recommend seeing it just once, but only if you're already a fan of his work.
