Review of Irreversible (2002) by Hugo S — 31 Aug 2012
The technique in the beginning of the film is very, very offputting, but stay past that and its offputting aspects abate. A very good movie, and the reverse chronology, which in the first act felt gimmicky, made the film have a point rather than being an exploitation film.
A horrible point, mind you. This is not the kind of movie you should watch if you canâ(TM)t stomach horrible, uncomfortable violence, because the whole movie turns on having to be exposed to it. Possibly the worst date movie ever (that title still belongs to the Antichrist, probably, but I havenâ(TM)t seen it).
