Notorious for its rape scene, I can see how some would find this uncomfortable to sit through. The plot is told backwards, like Memento and offers a few surprises, though in typical Noe style, could benefit from shortening some scenes.
What's also interesting is how the tone gradually shifts from gritty violent thriller to a romantic drama.
