Review of Irreversible (2002) by Kenny B — 19 Aug 2011
I know that people who are aware of this movie, immediately conjure up that infamous, horrifying rape scene whenever they come across this movie, but there's more to it. Yes, the violence and sodomy are gratuitous, and evokes a very strong emotion of appall and revulsion, but I guess, for the movie to work and to put it's message across as bluntly and starkly as possible, the director saw it befitting to utilise these extreme images.
It isn't an easy movie to watch at all, and for people who can take what the movie dishes out, and have the ability to look past what's on the screen, they would probably understand the movie better, and feel its impact on a more primal level.
