Review of Irreversible (2002) by ?????? D — 25 Aug 2010
I often read critics complain about hand-cam vertigo, but it's never bothered me until now. This movie takes vertigo-cam to a level I've never imagined. Yeah, I'm sure one could argue that the cinematography complements the insanity of the situation in which the characters find themselves.
Whoopee. Take some notes off Hitchcock and find better ways to impart confusion, please. Still, I'll give this movie a B- for intelligence and great acting. Some of the dialogue is A+. Hell, *some* of the camera work is very effective, despite my previous gripes, and the story is unarguably haunting.
I just haven't decided if that's a good or a bad thing.
