Review of Ironclad (2011) by Adam M — 22 Jul 2011
Brutally entertaining medieval thriller. A pretty simple plot involving a bunch of rebels, erm, rebelling against big asshole King John to defend their country, this is all about the brutal battle scenes which considering its 15 rating are very gory at times.
I'm not the biggest fan of these type of films usually but because of the fight scenes i'd heard about and its decent cast I thought it'd be worth a look and it was. Paul Giamatti hams it up brilliantly as King John and theres also good stuff from James Purefoy, Brian Cox and Derek Jacobi.
Theres a good looking young lady in Kate Mara to. So although not a masterpiece by any means, Ironclad is just an entertaining bit of old school brutality and if treated as such, is pretty fucking good.
