Review of Iron Man 3 (2013) by Richard D — 13 Jul 2015
I like this film. In fact, I like it better than "Iron Man 2" and possibly better than "Iron Man". Although the Marvel films do have certain stylistic traits mandated by Disney/Marvel, they do a decent job of letting directors with distinctive styles leave their mark on the film.
You can feel Joss Whedon in "The Avengers" and James Gunn in "Guardians of the Galaxy", and you can definitely feel Shane Black here. Black's approach to comedic action fits well with Downey's take on Tony Stark.
Yes, I think the climax is a bit too big and overblown, but that seems to be a fairly standard failing of the Marvel series.
