Shane Black was allowed to be Shane Black at the helm of this movie, and it pays off. While Pierce as the villain fails to be interesting and has an arch similar to the villain arcs of films such as The Incredibles and Batman Forever, this film has an interesting plotline, great action sequences, and smart humour.
Downey Jr. brings in a surprisingly-good performance, Kingsley's villain is engaging, and the twists and turns subvert our expectations of the MCU films thus far - overall, a standout film.
