Review of Iron Man (1931) by Richard L — 29 Aug 2014
Iron man is not only one of the best superhero films ever made but also one of the smartest. Like the Dark Knight Iron Man often does not feel like a superhero film. Iron Man not only appeals to comic book fans, but common movie viewers as well. Iron Man is a very interesting and well thought out character study about Tony Stark. We see Stark's transition from a rich playboy, to a relatable person that wants to help people. This film gave new light and attention to a somewhat lesser known Marvel superhero. That's mostly got to do with Robert Downey Jr. playing Stark. He not only looked the part, but the character of Stark is heavily based of Robert's own life.
The characters are all good especially Tony. Pepper Potts is also a good love interst for Tony. They have good chemestry together (atleast in this movie). Obadiah Stane is also a good villian, and is a good repesentation of coporate greed.
The effects in the film from the Iron Man suit to Tony's workshop are all great. The fight scenes, for the most part, are cool and entertaining. Although, in my opinion, the final fight at the end is a bit anti-climatic. I kinda wish there were more action scenes in the film though.
Overall this movie is a must see for superhero fans, and just movie fans in general.
