Review of Ip Man (2008) by Veronica S — 27 Jun 2012
I've never seen a martial arts film that looked this great and left me begging for so much. One of Donnie Yen's best films ever. If you have a best kung fu flick in mind, this film just replaced it. watch it and you'll see why.
This film introduced me to Wing Chung and now I can't stop thinking about it and how damned good the style is. But this film shows us that it's not about kung fu flips, kicks, and ass beatings, it's about people and their willingness to do for one another what one man can't do for himself. When everything they knew was changed and taken from them. To fight back and win back your freedoms, not just for you but for all the people who can't fight for themselves. Ip Man changed my view on all martial arts films and for the better. An instant classic and favorite in my collection. Not just in the genre but, in film history.
