Review of Ip Man (2008) by Ryan T — 12 Aug 2015
A good example of what Western viewers really like, despite the fact that this is an average and predictable film and distorts a lot of history to make itself so simple. It makes the bad guys and good guys distinctly opposites then creates a simple "every man" hero who overcomes incredible odds to defeat them.
Even with very average acting, the audience rated this much too high compared to much more complete and unique films of the genre.
