Almost every sports cliche in the book comes full circle here, with a lowly Wahlberg as a college dropout who only played one year of high school football, and is eventually persuaded by his fellow blue collar bartenders to try out for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kinnear admirably portrays the new football coach who makes a risky decision in holding a public tryout for the Eagles, but has truly never had any coaching experience except with a college team. Relatable situations of a desperate society that thrives on protesting against its places of business make up the true backbone of this story, but Wahlberg and his fellow cast members truly make the most out of a cliche-ridden script.

And, honestly, there is some respectable football action that will appease die hard sports fanatics. Some legendary Eagles players appear in-name only, which will bring back some fond memories of when the team was at its peak.

Still, it doesn't quite reach the dramatic heights that Rudy and Friday Night Lights reached.
