Review of Invincible (2013) by Daniel K — 06 Jul 2010
3: I do love good inspirational sports pictures and this definitely fits in that category. Plus, it includes Elizabeth Banks, who can make just about any picture more enjoyable. Films like this are among those that I can again and again and never really get sick of.
The genre conventions become reassuring and familiar despite the slight shifts in setting, storyline, characters, specifics, etc. It's all basically the same story, told over and over again in a slightly different way.
Wahlberg fits the bill here as well. The authentic locations are one of the films big selling points, which is also true of another inspirational sports story, Hoosiers, that I recently watched as well.
