Review of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) by Daniel K — 20 Nov 2017
Film critic 'group-think' has led to the widely held misbelief that this is a bad film when that is far from the truth. I loved it and found it got even better on repeat watchings (I'd definitely recommend the ultimate edition).
Yes, it is dark, meditative and moody, but that's what I want from a Batman film and I think audiences have to accept that there is always going to be a challenge of tone when you have Batman and Superman in the same movie- something that can be overcome in a comic but not on the screen.
Ben Affleck is excellent as Batman and whilst it isn't overflowing with laughs, why should it? I loved the Avengers because it was so witty and funny. I didn't need another Avengers, I wanted something different and this is what we got.
Make up your own mind and enjoy it for what it is, not what others think it should have been. The fact that the audience score is significantly higher than the 'critics' views is a good reminder that just because someone says something, doesn't make it so.
