Review of Invictus (2009) by Richard B — 01 Jun 2012
One of the problems with films involving sport is trying to get the action to seem real and this film was no different. If you have no idea what rugby is meant to look like this is a decent telling of an interesting story.
Damon, whilst about half the size of the real Francois Pienaar, puts in a resonable performance and Freeman is his usual self as Mandela. There are no surprises as it is based on a true story but this doesn't detract from the overall feeling of quality.
If half of the story is true then Mandela and Pienaar come out of it with some credit.
