Review of Into the Woods (2014) by Woody973 — 27 Dec 2014
Other than being about 15 minutes too long I enjoyed all aspects of this presentation of Sondheim's clever and lyrical blending of the fairy tales we all know. The music is beautiful, the lyrics are entertaining, pointed and filled with sometimes dark humor.
Having never seen the Broadway show, the twists and turns taken in the story were most pleasantly surprising and amazing. Meryl Streep was even more outstanding than I expected and all of the actors were perfect in their roles.
They pushed themselves to the heights of their abilities. The visual effects were amazing and on the mark. There are lessons to be learned by adults and children of all ages. Those below the age of preteen may not fully comprehend the depth and meaning but will certainly be entertained by this presentation.
