Review of Into the Woods (2014) by Craven M — 30 Sep 2015
This movie seemed interesting to me when I watch the trailer. Upon watching the movie, I realized it was a boring musical. To the average viewer (including a few of my friends) who doesn't know about this being based on the original musical, it would be confusing that majority of the movie is nothing but singing.
As mentioned above the movie was too long and boring. A watered down, PG version of the original musical (which is understanding it being PG with it being a Disney movie). The songs were irritating to the ears. The plot was not well done, full of holes, and it felt too cramped and forced. Acting was okay (Meryl Streep played a good witch, Johnny D was an okay Wolf), but lacked character development. I felt bad for Johnny Depp getting dragged into this movie and only getting a small part.
I didn't enjoy this movie at all and I usually don't have a problem with musicals. If anything, I'd recommend going and watching the actual musical.
