Review of Into the Forest (2016) by Jonathan G — 09 Aug 2016
This film was almost entirely disappointing. The single redeeming value was the cinematography. The plot was wretched, full of massive holes, and too many instances of me shouting "Why would you DO that?!", followed by "Why DIDN'T you do ALL THESE OTHER THINGS?!", to even be enjoyable.
It was almost entirely predictable, and I'm seriously terrible at predicting films, so if I was able to see every major plot point well ahead of time, that really says something about the total lack of imagination and innovation in this movie.
Then we have the "ending", which was more of a slow fumbling flop into the credits. No conclusions, no finding out what ever happened to Eli, nothing. Unsatisfying and frustrating. Had I paid to see this movie I would feel thoroughly cheated.
