Review of Into the Abyss (2011) by Lanky Man P — 12 Apr 2012
A very interesting documentary about the story of two young men and their senseless murder of 3 people to get a red car.
Herzog tackles the subject matter brilliantly, never taking sides, never making judgements, often just listening to people tell their story and to give an end to end documentary about the murder, the imprisonment and the execution and aftermath of one of the protagonists.
In looking into this subject it makes me 1) glad I dont live in texas and 2) happy that we dont have capital punishment in Canada.
Sure, they are guilty as sin and in Darwinian terms its better to top these bastards to remove them from the gene pool (although one of them wants to have 50 kids with his wife) but you cannot countenance the death of one with the death of another. Jesus wouldnt approve - as Werner so rightly says.
In short its another great piece of work from the man Herzog.
