Review of Into Great Silence (2005) by Ricardo A — 18 Mar 2008
Quite simply the most engrossing film I own. Visually stunning, the slow pace begins to mirror the lives of the Carthusian hermit-monks; it invites you to listen and watch intently, following the lives of the community through the seasons, through nights of psalm-singing and noisy walks in the snow.
... A genuine, intelligent attempt to film something almost unfilmable.
