Very well directed, dynamic horror film with superb acting. Wardrobe, sets create marvelous atmosphere regardless of the era depicted, from the 18th century New Orleans to 19th century Paris and beyond.

Everything from character development to action, drama, and horror is represented in this classic modern vampire film. Very efficient in its depicting of gothic horror.

Having no sluggish moment, this suspenseful movie also evokes questions on human life and mortality. Managing not to seem overly childish or silly, which is difficult with this kind of genre, the film injects a sombre life into the world of gothic horror movies. Historic setting serves this purpose.

I don't really know what else to say, except that I've seen this artwork at least twice on tv, even more on vhs tape and at least twice on dvd, and it always has some effect on me. The film has left an impression on the entire world of movies. A favorite, and a classic in its own right.
