It's a brilliant take on the vampire lore, by having an empathetic vampire (played marvellously by Brad Pitt) tell his 200+ year life story. He reveals the cruelties of immortality and reminds us all of why it is best to not let our pasts define ourselves.

The Hollywood romanticisms are a-plenty in this picture, but I'd argue that they compliment the feature by means of Gothic romanticisms- providing such elegance and style to bolster it.
