Review of Internal Affairs (1990) by Stephanie A — 03 May 2009
11 years before Denzel Washington went against his image in Training Day, Richard Gere did it in "Internal Affairs", which follows a rookie IAD investagator, Andy Garcia, as he tries to bring down Gere, a beat cop who's used bribes, blackmail and murder to control the department and amass a good deal of personal wealth.
As good as Garcia is the real stand out is Richard Gere playing a twisted version of his usual self. Often asscosated with chick flicks one tends to forget just how good an actor he can be as he is here, going from charming to meanacing, to manipulative and back in the space of a scene and convincing. Defeinitly one you should give a chnace.
