Review of Inspector Gadget (1999) by Kevin R — 06 Jun 2015
Justice will be served.
A security guard always wanted to be a police officer and accomplish more for the better good of mankind than he can in his current position. After an unfortunate accident, he is selected to become a cyborg of sorts that will allow him to accomplish his lifelong goal. He partners with a new friend, Brenda, to help master his new powers while on his first mission to bring down the diabolical Mr. Claw.
"We're being chased by the hatchback squad!".
David Kellog, director of Cool as Ice, Lusty Liasons II, and numerous music videos, delivers Inspector Gadget. The storyline for this picture is fairly mediocre and just okay. I would also say the special effects, characters, and overall premise are average as well. The acting is as you'd expect for a children's film and the cast includes Matthew Broderick, Joely Fisher, Rupert Everett, Andy Dick, Mr. T, Richard Kiel, and Cheri Otery.
"I'm the inspector and you're the car!".
I came across this on HBOGO and thought it would be a fun film to watch with my daughter. She watched it pretty much from beginning to end and found it entertaining. This isn't a special movie by any means and definitely a surprise Disney marketed this film. Overall, this is a below average addition to the genre that you can skip.
"This is not going to end well.".
Grade: C-.
