Review of Insomnia (2002) by James-Masaki R — 12 Aug 2012
Nolan's first big budget movie was a remake of a Norwegian cop film, which was already good in the first place that it was hard to ruin. It's not particularly stylish, and some might say unnecessary when the original is already made, but like "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", etc.
English language remakes reach a wider audience. There are subtle improvements from the original, but whichever you watch, they're both excellent intense experiences.
