Now keep in mind I never watched the other 3 movies, but I still felt I understood what was going on for the most part. The acting here was certainly quite bad. There was also a lot of really forced humor that I couldn't help but cringe like a particular kissing scene.

It wasn't really funny it was just stupid. There is also the fact, as in almost every horror film, people doing beyond stupid things that just don't make sense. This movie relies mostly on jumpscares to scare the movie.

However, I will give it credit for one well done jumpscare scene that I did find enjoyable dealing with suitcases. It was quite dumb, but it was dumb at the least in a fun way.
