Review of Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) by Malcolm M — 04 Jan 2014
This film does exactly what it says on the tin. Scary set-ups similar to the first movie actually got my skin crawling (such a strange sensation!) and gave me a bad dream.
Rose Byrne does a great job of being scared but no over-squealing, and Patrick Wilson has a face creepy enough to suit his part really well. The story gets confusing in a few spots as they time and place-travel through the movie, but the creepy scenes and now-you-see-me-now-you-don't ghosts work their way into your primeval brain just like any decent horror should. Not super-original, but a good example of the genre done well. Looking forward to the inevitable part 3!
