Review of Insidious (2011) by Owen G — 11 Sep 2013

This movie had alot of good things and alot of bad things. This movie could have been really great, or really horrible. It benefited from a great director who did keep great tone, lighting, and cinematography throughout the film.

But I feel like there were too many ideas introduced that the film failed to bring all the way through. For one, they tried an elder horror film style, reminiscent of The Shinning. But this was only brought out a couple of times throughout the film.

It wasn't a believable intertwinning of new and old horror style. Second, through the middle of the film a giant revelation that changes the story completely is revealed, but there is no foreshadowing before, making this comepletely unbelievable.

Overall, I feel the film is has good plot, good director, but was missing good writers.
